FALL TERM
Intensivo: September Intensive Course
Maximize your language preparation for the term’s course work. Attend class four hours a day for one month to strengthen all four language skills: speaking, listening, writing, and reading.

Spanish Culture and Civilization
This mandatory course is designed specifically for the fall semester program and is taught by Mark Bennett, our resident site director. It begins with the Intensivo course and runs through the end of the program.

Topics Course
A placement exam determines your level for topics courses. In addition to the mandatory Spanish Culture and Civilization and Speaking and Writing Skills courses, advanced-level students (Estudios Hispánicos) choose two courses from eighteen options during the term. Upper-intermediate level students (Estudios de Lengua y Cultura Españolas) choose one course from nine options in addition to the mandatory Spanish Culture and Civilization, Speaking and Writing Skills, and Spanish Grammar courses. All the fall CLM courses meet four hours per week. Recommended and mandatory classes are as follows:

SPRING TERM
Intensivo: January Intensive Course
Maximize your language preparation for the term’s course work. Attend class five-and-a-half hours a day for three weeks to strengthen all four language skills: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. Twenty course hours concentrate on Spanish in the media.

Hispanic Literary Studies
This course is designed specifically for the Granada program and is taught by a U.S. visiting faculty member from an ILACA institution. For spring term 2008 this course will be taught by Harry Velez Quinones, professor of Spanish language from University of Puget Sound. Study the major genres of Hispanic literature through close analyses of selected masterpieces. Develop your critical reading skills and written analyses. Prepare for more advanced literary and cultural studies.

Topics Course

EXCURSIONS
Spain is your classroom—excursions to cultural and historical sites around the country are an integral part of your learning experience.

Whether you study in Granada in the spring or fall, you’ll travel to:
•  Madrid
•  Toledo
•  Segovia
to explore this rich cultural and historic area.

•  Andalucía, the center of the most highly developed civilization of the Middle Ages, offers many opportunities to learn about Spain’s cultural diversity, art, architecture, and history.

In the past, other program excursions have taken students to:
•  Córdoba
•  Sevilla
•  Ronda
•  Grazalema

Exact destinations may vary from term to term, and are determined at the beginning of the program.

Not all courses listed are offered every term. Course offerings are subject to change depending on enrollment and availability.

ACADEMIC CREDIT
All courses offered in Granada are recognized and approved for academic credit by various ILACA member institutions. Actual credit awarded is determined by the relevant department at your university in consultation with the study abroad office. Check with your study abroad adviser for more information.
