Professor Nicholas Zaferatos is the AHA site director for the Sustainable Community Development program. The program's education and research center, A World Institute for Sustainable Humanity-Hellas (AWISH-Hellas), maintains a professional staff in Athens and Kefalonia who are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including the coordination of planning and logistics, class scheduling, and assisting in cultural transitions to life in Greece.  Program staff members also provide daily support to students, arrange, for housing and travel, and coordinate program logistics.  Local Greek faculty members are involved in teaching and research in Greece, and join the U.S. visiting faculty members to provide an integrated curriculum.

 A World Institute for a Sustainable Humanity - Hellas (AWISH-Hellas) is an educational organization sponsoring academic and applied research activities in sustainable community development in Greece. Affiliated with AWISH-International, AWISH-Hellas brings together local Greek faculty to teach in the program.  It is a recognized partner in the United Nation's Community Sustainable Development Program, and a member organization of the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development.

    The Kefalonia program will not be offered during the 2008-9 academic year.
