Time Keeps On Slipping, Slipping, Slipping...
As the clocks fall back, there's less than four weeks left before I leave London...
The clocks all got turned back an hour Sunday morning... It meant that we all got an extra hour of sleep, but it also means that sunset now occurs an hour earlier - officially just after 4:30pm. So it's now dark by the time we get out of class. Kinda cool, kinda surreal...
Last Friday everybody in both programs went on a day trip to Cambridge. We toured around some of the colleges, including Trinity College where Isaac Newton studied. The library there had an original version of his gravity work and a lock of his hair... It was pretty cool.
That evening we all went to a Sung Eucharist in King's College Chapel. The chapel itself is an amazing place with incredible stained glass windows and a fan-vaulted ceiling... Wow...
The weather has been incredibly un-London-y. Unseasonably warm and sunny. My host dad said that they usually have several frosts by this time of year, but we haven't really been close yet. It's really helped me be able to get out and run longer into the fall than I expected. I also found a big park about 10 minutes from my house that has saved me from the same loop every single time.
Last night I went to see part one of the Canterbury Tales at the Gielgud Theatre. It closes this weekend and it's something I've been wanting to see, so I finally forced myself to go. And I am most certainly glad I did go. It was very funny. As advertised, it was very bawdy and not very tasteful, but hilarious nonetheless. I'm gonna try to see the second part on Thursday.
This weekend is (Remember, remember) the 5th of November and we're all invited out to Martin's house (the program director) for fireworks and food. It's really funny that they celebrate the day that some whackos tried to blow up Parliament by lighting bonfires and fireworks... I'm really excited to be here, in London, for Guy Fawkes Day, though. See, you can learn good stuff from movies...
November also means that fall term is nearly done. After this week there's only three weeks of class left for us NCSA kids. I'm trying to get on top of planning and figuring out what I'm gonna be doing for the 2 1/2 weeks I have before I go home... Good luck to me...
