My First Post

A brief introduction

    Hello!  My name is Autumn.  I'm a junior (and history major) at Pacific Lutheran University a small, private school in the Pacific Northwest.  I've lived in Tacoma, Washington most of my life and would love to live in the gorgeous Puget Sound area for the rest of my life.  I work at the Washington State History Museum and am thinking about going into museum work after I graduate.  I also teach (and continue to take) piano lessons and play for my church every week.  Were I to pick my favorite thing to do it would be reading, hands down.  If it has pages and words I'll read it, but I especially love the classics and children's literature.
    I am very excited to be studying in London for the Spring 2007 semester, in the London ILACA program.  A particularly appealing aspect of my program is the vast number of excursions that are included.  Time in Wales and Scotland, trips to Bath, Stonehenge, Stratford-Upon-Avon and other British attractions, plays and museums!  I can't wait!
    Though I've traveled throughout the United States many times, and have been to Great Britain and France before, living in a foreign country for four months will be a very new experience.  I know that being in a new surrounding, among new people and immersed in a new culture will cause me to stretch and grow immensely.  I am looking forward to studying British history and politics academically in addition to enjoying British culture more informally while actually in Britain.
