I'm here!!!

Meet the other AHA students studying in Segovia.

I’m here, and I do not know whether to run screaming or just keep my mouth shut and hope nobody notices that I suck at speaking Spanish and so wish I would have taken another class before I came here.  Don’t get me wrong, everyone here is sooooo nice, but PLEASE slow down; I only got about a third of what you said.

Ok, Here is my first embarrassing story, and I am sure there will be many more.  The second night we (the other American students and I) were in Segovia, we decided to go out and see the night life.  We all meet at the aqueduct, which is about a twenty minute walk from where I live.  Afterwards, I couldn’t remember my way home; everything looks different at night - at least to me.  There were two streets which I thought went in the right direction, but I couldn’t remember which one it was.  And one of them looked kind of creepy, since it wasn’t nearly as light-up.  Yes, I admit it!  I am not the best person with directions.  So I had to call Marian, our site director, and ask for directions.  In my defense, the spot on my map that someone other than me had marked earlier as my house was so not the right spot.  It was where one of the other students lived.  Obviously, I made my way home, and I will never forget my way again.  And for me and a few other students, the Calle de Santo Tomás will forever be known as the creepy street.

You may have noticed that these entries are a little old.  I apologize and hope to have everyone up-to-date with what's happening in Spain by the end of the week.

Hasta luego,
